Nina K Pettis, Proofreader

MY THANKS TO ...

Ed Angerstein, a former client when I worked at Type & Stat; Ed tracked me down a few years later and shanghaied me into freelancing for USFI. (Ed also established my hourly rate and minimum charge.)

Lavon Dison, who hired me as a proofreader in 1980. He taught me more about the art of typography than I could have learned in a doctoral program at any college. I still read every job as if Lavon were doing the final check-out. We worked together for eleven years, first at Automated Productions, Inc. (a subsidiary of Bloom Advertising), and later at The Type & Stat Place.

Jean Armstrong, "Counter of the Beans," delivery person, roommate, business partner, and strongest supporter. When I said, "It's time for me to go freelance," she never flinched.

David Harmon, who told me for years that I should be freelancing; he was right, as always ... all the English teachers who taught me grammar, spelling, syntax, sentence structure, and a love for the language ... my late sister, Ladye Sparks, who challenged me constantly ... my late mother, who taught me to read at the age of four and never tried to curtail my choice of reading matter ... and all my client/friends.

And last but not least, two groups:

I sincerely appreciate you all!

TECHNICAL DETAILS

My new logo was designed by Cheryl Flewharty, a graphic designer, artist and Scottie lover. The background was designed especially for me by Robert MacGregor. Sean Chitwood took on the job of adding text, links, etc. Sean managed to keep his sense of humor in the face of daily e-mails as I added and revised text, found more hyperlinks, and carped about his typos. Then I bought a book on HTML and started fine-tuning, adding, and twiddling, so any errors are most likely to be mine; please tell me about them at ninap@ninaproofs.com or leave me a voicemail at 469-574-5072.
